A 10 minute drive east of Strathalbyn is Langhorne Creek, one of Australia's first wine growing districts. Here on the flood plains of the Bremer River, vineyards sprawl in all directions.

A visit to the district's award winning wineries will introduce you to the area's quality produce and to some of its local history - a look at the enormous red gum wine press is a must.

A visit to nearby Lake Alexandrina will provide many opportunities for bird watching and fishing enthusiasts.
