A Tribute to the music of the great Peter Allen Presented by Alexandrina Council Another quality Promac Production - the company that brought ‘The Mikado’, ‘Great Songs of The War Years’, ‘Gilbert & Sullivan’ plus many other highly popular shows to Centenary Hall over recent years. If there is one song that has been adopted as Australia’s second national anthem it would have to be ‘I Still Call Australia Home’ written by the legendary Peter Allen. It is this song that is the basis of ‘The Peter Allen Songbook’, a show that features the greatest hits Peter Allen ever wrote including; ‘I Honestly Love You’, ‘Rio’, ‘Quiet Please’, ‘I Am Not The Boy Next Door’, ‘Tenterfield Saddler’ and many more. Starring in this production is very popular singer/dancer and music theatre star John Bowles. Growing up before us on national television, John spent his early years serenading Australia on Young Talent Time. Today John is better known for his outstanding performances in the leading roles of such shows as ‘The Phantom of the Opera’, ‘Hello Dolly’ and ‘A Funny Thing Happened On The Way to The Forum’. John’s stage presence and all round singing and dancing talent makes him a natural choice to pay tribute to the great songwriter Peter Allen. Performing alongside John is popular Australian award winning actress/singer Michelle Fitzmaurice. Tying the entire show together with brilliant narration is veteran Australian stage and television performer Brian Hannan. Brian is well known to audiences for his roles in ‘The Sullivans’ and ‘Prisoner’ as well numerous musicals such as ‘Camelot’, ‘The Fantastics’ and ‘Hello Dolly’. With Adrian Kirk providing musical direction on piano, this fully scripted tribute to the great Peter Allen is sure to be a fabulous night of theatre and a hit with patrons of all ages.
