In a series of provocative multi-media installations, audiences are drawn into a surreal bureaucracy that has colonized our world. Armed with Kafkaesque tasks that reflect experiences of oppression, from racism, #MeToo to daily access barriers, audiences can test their supremacy beliefs, and simultaneously subvert colonizing mindsets.

Created by Change Media’s Jen Lyons-Reid and Carl Kuddell, in collaboration with Ngarrindjeri and artists from diverse backgrounds. The Colony explores concepts of power, privilege and solidarity, inviting audiences to notice, disrupt and reframe privileged assumptions: Welcome to The Colony. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts, its arts funding and advisory body, and by the South Australian Government through Arts SA.
