About the Goolwa Wharf Precinct

The Goolwa Wharf Precinct is a year-round destination to discover, experience and celebrate.  With the mission to link a heritage style precinct with lifestyle and entertainment of today, there's something for everyone 'At the Wharf'

The Goolwa Wharf Precinct holds a unique position in the tourism offering on the Fleurieu Peninsula, with a dual focus on both visitors and local businesses, the Precinct adds to the attractiveness of Goolwa as a destination for families, young people, special interest groups and older people.  Did you know, Goolwa is one of only two places in the world where you can link a journey between a steam train and a steam powered paddleboat in just a few steps?  The other is in Mallaig, Scotland.

With the fortnightly Cittaslow Markets, monthly 'At the Wharf' food, wine and music, events; an array of businesses including cellar doors, cafes, restaurants, distilleries, breweries, tourism operators offering daily trips into the Coorong, Steam boat and train trips, art galleries and wine bars - there truly is something for everyone 'At the Wharf'

The Wharf is currently in the process of a transformation see here for more information and the opportunity to comment on the plans as consultation on the Draft Goolwa Wharf Master Plan is now open!

 GWP concept design small

A future vision for Alexandrina’s iconic Goolwa Wharf Precinct has been revealed and the draft Master Plan will deliver on Council’s vision to be “A place to experience a vibrant riverfront township enriched with culture and history.” The draft Master Plan seeks to create a Precinct that is a vibrant and active place for people and one that showcases its many unique features, cementing this distinct destination as a great place to visit and spend time, for locals and tourists alike.
